Deeply X Ecoalf - A collection to create awareness

For the surf line, Ecoalf Sports has collaborated with its brand ambassador and big wave surfing champion, Natxo González, to design its first plant-based wetsuits, made together with Deeply Europe, as well as shorts, t-shirts, long sleeves and bathing suits for men and women.

Wetsuits are usually made of a synthetic rubber. To limit the use of petroleum-derived materials, Ecoalf Sports and Deeply have used YULEX® natural rubber that comes from Hevea trees (from certified forests), and that provides the same comfort, unlimited mobility and quick-drying properties, among Other features.

The names of the garments have been inspired by the best surf spots around the world. The Nazare zip-up wetsuit for men (€250.00) can be combined with the surf shorts. It's made with a recycled nylon outer fabric, a natural rubber layer and finished with a recycled nylon inner layer. The seams are glued and stitched to reinforce the interior, without compromising flexibility, thanks to the ultra-flexible seam tapes. The Teah neoprene suits for men (€350.00) and Peahi for women (€320.00) have the same characteristics, but without a front zipper, according to the concept designed by Natxo González, making them different from the rest. All wetsuits are 2/2 MM thick, perfect for temperatures between 18-21ºC.

By using recycled and natural materials, Ecoalf saves 1.7 million liters of water (consuming 20.3% less than the market average) and 6.7 tons of CO2 eq. (generating 31.4% less than the market average).

"After my first conversation with Ecoalf a couple of years ago, I started to really open my eyes about the need to do something for the ocean because it is my favorite place in the world, it is my sanctuary, the place where I feel happiest. And I'm extremely happy and proud to have trusted them to create a surf line that raises awareness about microplastic pollution and the need to protect the oceans, I'm contributing a small part, but I feel like we all need to do something to address the problem and that future generations can enjoy the ocean as I have practically all my life.” - Natxo González, big wave surfing champion.

“Ecoalf is a benchmark in sustainability, and for its new surf line we wanted to transfer that synergy between the surfer and the ocean, man and nature. That's why we've integrated YULEX® into the wetsuits. It is the meeting point between design and materials science. This has allowed us to maintain high design standards without sacrificing sustainability and product performance."
